Team Texas Girls are National Champs, Frisco wins Bronze

by Keith Andresen

The Team Texas Girls, the first girls team from Texas to advance to the National High School Tournament, brought home the crown in convincing fashion.  Team Texas avenged their only tournament loss, a 3-2 decision to MN Dynamo Black, by smashing Dynamo 10-0 in the Championship game.

In Division 2 play, Frisco advanced through pool play and the Quarter-Finals before dropping a Semi-Final match-up, 2-0, against the eventual National Champion Boulder/Monarch.  This is the 3rd straight year a D2 team from Texas has advanced to the Final 4.  Frisco won the Championship in 2017 and Plano West won Bronze in 2018.

In Division 1, Jesuit did not advance out of pool play.  Jesuit fought hard in the toughest bracket against Edina and Santa Margarita who ended up playing each other in the D1 National Championship.

Congratulations to Team Texas, Frisco and Jesuit!!
