McKinney takes the Gold city/State championship
McKinney knocked off a determined Keller squad 2-1 in an OT thriller. The game was scoreless deep into the 3rd period until Tate Cakir scored to give McKinney a 1-0 lead. It looked like that goal would be enough but Keller pulled their goalie and with 24 seconds left, Mason Wolfe tied the game at 1. In OT both teams had chances, but it was McKinney's Nicholas Carey who scored the game winner. It was an extremely well-played game with only 1 minor penalty. The Tournament MVP was McKinney goalie Aiden Cakir who led all tournament goalies with 1.43 GAA and .952 save %. Congratulations to McKinney.
Both teams have earned a bid to the USA Hockey National Tournament in Irvine, California March 26-30.
